The Sensible and Sensational 2021 Chevy Bolt EV
In addition to being the smart choice when it comes to fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness, some electric vehicles – including the 2021 Chevy Bolt EV – amaze with their power and drivability.
Power and Performance
If you’re not familiar with electric vehicles, you may be surprised what you’ll find under the hood of the Chevy Bolt EV. Or, more specifically, what you won’t find: an engine.
This car is powered by an electric motor that produces 200 horsepower. A 1-speed automatic transmission is standard. With a 240-volt outlet, you can get your Chevy Bolt EV fully charged in 10 hours, and then you will be able to drive 259 miles. And with DC Fast Charging (which comes in upper trims), it will only take a half hour for you to charge your new Chevy so it will be able to go up to 100 miles.
The MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) clocks in at 127 in the city and 108 on the highway. It also comes with a regenerative braking system that recharges the battery. And in addition to outstanding fuel economy, the Chevy Bolt EV is a joy to drive, as it handles extremely well.
The Chevy Bolt EV has room for five people, and cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, and 60/40 split-folding back seats are standard. Leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are available.
For a car on the smaller side, the cargo room in this Chevy sedan is impressive: 16.9 cubic feet behind the back row and 56.6 cubic feet when it’s down. You will also like all of the standard tech features, including:
- A 10.2-inch touchscreen
- Two USB ports
- Remote start
- Apple CarPlay®
- Android Auto™
- Push-button start
- Satellite radio
- A Wi-Fi hot spot
If you’d like to add more, you can also get wireless device charging, a seven-speaker Bose® sound system, and two rear USB ports.
The Teen Driver system comes standard with the Chevy Bolt EV, and if you have younger driver in your household, you’ll be happy to know that this will let you monitor their driving habits.
A rearview camera and traction control are also standard. Optional safety features include rear parking sensors, lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring.
