Finding a Chevy Silverado for sale is easy, but finding one with all the features you want can be tough. With so many options to choose from, it can be overwhelming if you don’t know where to start looking. We’ve come up with a list of our favorite Silverado packages so that you can make an informed decision about what added features you are looking to include in your Silverado. Let’s take a closer look at what’s available and how you can add a variety of features to further customize your pickup.

Work Truck Value Package

The first package we’d like to mention is the Work Truck Value Package. As the name implies, the Work Truck Value Package is designed to be added to the base trim, known as Work Truck. However, the package ultimately comprises features from both the Work Truck Convenience Package and the Trailering Package.

Suppose you purchase the Work Truck Value Package. In that case, your base-trim Silverado includes added features like heated power mirrors—if you purchase a double or crew cab—along with tinted glass, a rear-window defogger, and cruise control added to the mix. The Silverado’s implementation of Cruise Control is superb, with controls on your steering wheel, Stabilitrak Electronic Stability Control, and more. All of the listed features are present courtesy of the Work Truck Convenience Package’s inclusion.

What features are present thanks to the Trailering Package being part of the Work Truck Value Package? Thanks to the Trailering Package, your Silverado 1500 includes features like Hitch Guidance, which adds an extra layer of versatility to the camera feed from your rearview camera on your infotainment center. This added layer of versatility comes in the form of lines that appear when you’re reversing your car, and these lines are there to assist with the perfect alignment between your vehicle and your trailer.

Hitch guidance is a fantastic feature you should greatly consider, regardless of your towing skills. The Trailering Package also brings with it integrated 4-pin and 7-pin connectors, along with a 7-wire electrical harness and a 2″ receiver hitch. By purchasing the Work Truck Value Package, you’re saving a bit of money instead of purchasing the Trailering and Work Truck Convenience Packages separately.

Work Truck Safety Package

Why is the Work Truck Safety Package a great idea? Every modern Silverado, including base trims, includes Chevy Safety Assist, which is an incredibly feature-packed assortment of advanced safety features that compete with the very best. By purchasing the Work Truck Safety Package, you’re getting more features built onto the already robust standard ones and a couple of aesthetic changes. As for the aesthetic changes, purchasing the Work Truck Safety Package includes glossy-black mirror caps, but if you’re buying the High Country trim, these mirror caps instead match the color of the vehicle’s exterior. Now, let’s discuss some of the added safety features.

With the Work Truck Safety Package, your Silverado gains access to Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and both Front and Rear Park Assist. As for Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, these features will alert you to any vehicles in your blind spot, ensuring that you can change lanes safely.

The Silverado identifies road markings and other vehicles thanks to a combination of cameras and sensors, so you can expect accurate warnings no matter where you’re traveling. If there’s a vehicle in your blind spot and you haven’t noticed the indicator, it’ll begin flashing if you engage your turn signal as an extra safety precaution to ensure you know it’s not safe to switch lanes. And, if you don’t want to utilize either feature, you can disable them by simply navigating the settings menu on your infotainment center.

As for the Front and Rear Park Assist that comes with the Work Truck Safety Package, they’re another feature possible thanks to the inclusion of sensors and cameras. As the name implies, Front and Rear Park Assist makes parking easier thanks to audible cues that trigger when pulling into or reversing into a parking space. If there are any obstructions, like if you’re too close to a wall or another vehicle, that’s when these features activate, and it can surely save you from a potential accident. However, the Silverado goes one step further if you purchase the Work Truck Safety Package because you also get a Rear Cross Traffic Alert. With cameras and sensors, this feature can accurately predict whether or not any traffic will impede your ability to safely reverse out of a parking space, so it’s a great way to be double-sure that it’s safe to proceed with reversing.

Technology Package

The last package for the Silverado 1500 we’d like to discuss today is the Technology Package, which includes features that complement the already highly sufficient array of tech features that come standard with the truck. Among the features added to the collection if you opt for the package is a 15-inch Head-Up Display. Head-up displays, commonly known as HUDs, often display gauge information, like mph and fuel level, and it does so via a transparent projection of light that shows this information on your windshield. With the Chevy Silverado’s HUD, you can even enable turn-by-turn directions.

If you purchase the ZR2 trim with the Technology Package, your Chevy Silverado also gains a Power Tilt/Telescoping Steering Column, giving you finite power-adjustable controls over the height and protrusion of your steering wheel. Adaptive Cruise Control is also included, which is designed with more functions than maintaining speed. With Adaptive Cruise Control, your Silverado not only maintains the set speed but also remembers it, slowing down your vehicle to accommodate vehicles in front of you and then getting you back up to speed.

The only other feature the Technology Package has that’s exclusive to a specific trim is the Bed View Camera that comes with the LTZ. Your Silverado can be fitted with many cameras, and the Bed View Camera is as it sounds, giving you a real-time and clear view of your truck bed, which is perfect for checking your cargo on the fly. Speaking of cameras, the rearview camera isn’t only reserved for reversing your car, but its camera feed is always displayed on a crisp glass screen where you’d normally find a rearview mirror. There’s no denying the Technology Package makes an already future-proof truck feel even more significant in the modern day.

Enhance Your Silverado Driving Experience in a Variety of Ways

Now that we’ve discussed our favorite Silverado packages, it’s worth knowing there are more you can look into. For example, with your Silverado, you could also purchase the Dark Essentials Package, Interior Convenience Package, Utility Wall Package, and more. Different packages are designed for different accommodations and drivers, but Chevy trucks are not only reasonably priced, but each one has something significant enough that makes it worth the asking price. Many of the packages and the great prices associated with them remind us of the old saying: “Big things come in small packages.” If you’re purchasing a new model or even custom-ordering one, then we hope we’ve given you some valuable insight into the packages you should consider for your new truck.
